This was another website redesign project. AJN Remodelors had an outdated site that wasn't generating the traffic and customers that they deserved, so they came to me to update and refresh their online presence. I had pretty free reign on this project, so I got to have a bit of fun. It's a simple site coded in HTML5, and using jQuery with a few plugins for the image slider. I decided to go with mostly green and then a nice warm brown wood background.
This is a very simple and clean site designed to just showcase what the company does and have easy access to means of contacting them. We have plans to add more social media integration into this site in the future.
This is a very cool startup company that a friend of mine (and a fellow Jared) put together. There are plans in the works to expand this out to a full-blown ecommerce site, but in the meantime he needed something to get the word out.
I whipped this site together for him in an afternoon just to showcase the clothing that will be available soon. It's coded in simple HTML5 and a jQuery based lightbox.
Beth Karon is an artist who was looking to update her portfolio site. She needed to add new content to her site, and also wanted change to a cleaner look and navigation. She has quite a few images of her drawings and clay creations that she wanted to showcase, so we set up a lightbox to show off her work. This allows us to have a lot of thumbnails, show high quality images of her work, and also not use up valuable real estate or open additional windows.
The design of the site is based around the look and feel of her drawings. I used some of the images from her work to create the footer and header images, and we kept the rest of the site very clean with a blue and gray theme to it.
This site was another redo of an existing website. The Millpond Mercantile is a gift shop located in central MN, and they have a very unique and tested aesthetic. Their old site was based entirely in Flash, which allowed them to do some neat animations and such, but resulted in a terribly slow website that was difficult for them to update. When we met to talk about the new site, the main things they were looking for were a representation of their store's aesthetic presence, quick load times, and the ability to update the site on their own.
We went through several designs for the site, and finally settled on one that they felt fit the store. We used a Javascript lightbox to show the images that they carry, which allowed us to host more images without taking up space. There are a few sections that they need to update regularly, so we opted to use CushyCMS for that. This allows them to log in and update or change certain content using a simple, remote interface.
This site was designed for nationally syndicated radio host Bob Long and his automobile radio feature, "The Long Drive".
Bob had been recording short radio features of "The Long Drive" for stations and programs around the country for some time, but needed a central hub for all his affiliates to get the files and learn more about the features. He also wanted to expand it into a place for himself and other contributors to post articles and reviews about the automotive industry.
I opted to once again use the Wimpy Player for the audio files, and I skinned it to incorporate the logo I designed embedded into brushed aluminum. We included several different options for his affiliates to access the files, including restricted FTP access. For the written articles, I set up a Wordpress blog that has been embedded as part of the site and his different contributors can then log in and upload their content.
This site was designed for nationally syndicated radio host Bob Long. He already had websites for his various programs, but he needed one central site for information regarding himself and all of his programs.
This site has a simple layout focused around displaying information in a cohesive manner. The individual show pages are set up to contain any possible information a visitor would be looking for, and any relevant contact info.
I styled the site around the combination of automotive and radio themes, as Bob is a car-talk radio host. The header contains an old AM car radio, and the background continues the them with a carbon-fiber pattern. The various other features Bob requested include a lightbox photo gallery and simple flash players for demo clips.
For Scott's site, we opted to focus mainly on layout and placement of elements, and allow his artwork carry the majority of the color you see. This very simple and clean website draws the visitor's eye to Scott's paintings and photos without anything else getting in the way.
I implemented a JavaScript lightbox for displaying his images, allowing Scott to have higher quality photos of his work on the site without taking up valuable real estate.
I also added a Wordpress blog to his site, and styled it to match the rest of the site exactly. Scott can easily log in to his Wordpress admin panel and update his blog without ever having to look at code. The front page features his latest blog posts and a sample of his work.
This is the website for my record label, Buck Up Records. The design is based around the aesthetics of the label, including a love of the midwest and DIY culture. The logo and all graphics were designed by myself. I opted to keep the graphic design simple, but use recurring textures and colors.
The layout is configured so that the user can listen to tracks using the custom audio player and also browse the site at the same time without interrupting playback. The audio player is powered by the Wimpy Player (www.wimpyplayer.com) and uses a custom skin that I designed to look like an older tape deck interface. Portions of the site are currently in development and we will have the shop section up soon. I encourage you to check out the site and give the extremely talented artists there a listen.
"the mr rusty collective" is the alias I use for creating mashups and other digital sample based music. This site is done almost entirely with images and image maps to ensure that the distinct visual feel I was going for would be viewed uniformly on different computers and browsers.
The custom audio player is powered by the Wimpy Player (www.wimpyplayer.com), and designed to replicate an old tape deck complete with functioning buttons. The layout of the site was designed so that the user can listen to music via the player and also browse the rest of the site without interrupting playback.
This site has not been updated with any new tracks for awhile but check it out and listen to some mashup goodies! All tracks featured are free to download and are for fun only. If any artists sampled object, contact me and I will remove the track.
